Story: The Basics
This computer animated film picks up where the PlayStation Final Fantasy VII video game left off. Cloud Strife, the hero of the game, has retired into seclusion, but when a mysterious and lethal disease known as Geostigma begins to spread across the planet, and three powerful, villainous children appear, he reluctantly emerges to face the new and mysterious threats. Featuring some of the most spectacularly lavish computer graphics ever created, 'Advent Children' continues the complex and compelling tradition that has made the Final Fantasy series one of the most popular games of all time.

Video: The Basics
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete originally must have been 720p because it doesn't hold well on 4K. Let's get into it.
The use of HDR is zero, it's 100 nit SDR thrown into an HDR window, that's it. There's no need to even add HDR, it's used just to get your backlight to turn up to 100. Useless.
The color is very poor, banding is visible, and the upgrade to 4K is honestly poor.
The resolution is horrifically bad due to the original resolution, and massive antialiasing artifacts are visible. The level of detail is between DVD and Blu-ray, it's not good.
Overall? I'm going to forget this release ever happened. This is not why I bought into 4K and Physical Media. I want quality and this isn't it.
VIDEO SCORE: 2 OUT OF 5
THE BASICS: POOR
Audio: The Basics
The audio for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is fairly decent, let's discuss.
Dialogue volume is very good, and dialogue has been mixed well, very good.
Audio quality felt a little stretched to me, it little harsh.
There are some minor bass moments, but I'm honestly left wanting more. The mix isn't the best in this regard.
The use of surround sound and Dolby Atmos is quite good, but there are many times where I wanted the sound mixed differently. Has some nice effects, but never perfect.
Overall, not bad sound, but I don't think it's been upscaled very well.
AUDIO SCORE: 4 OUT OF 5
